Recent years have seen a steady increase of the phenomenon of dust
The research sheds light on the negative environmental effects of dust storms on the components of the living environment (plants, animals, and humans) and non-living environmental components in Wasit Governorate, which witnessed an increase in dust storms during the seasons of the year, bringing their frequency to approximately (90.31) dust storm in 2019 resulting from the combination of a group of Natural factors, such as the rise in the temperature range, which causes a high frequency of dust storms approximately five months of the year, affected by several natural factors (geographical location, solar radiation, pressure, wind, heat, rain, ... etc.) and human factors (overgrazing, urban expansion, reduction Green cover ... etc.) to negatively affect the country's economy and human well-being, being the most affected by environmental damage from pollution resulting from dust storms, For its ability to increase the spread of diseases and the transmission of germs and viruses with the minute components of flying dust from distant regions, as well as its indirect effects on its life through its harmful effect on plants and animals and even its activities and properties. In an attempt to develop mechanisms to address these cases in the short and long term to confront them and mitigate their effects, and to achieve the desired goals of the research, the researchers adopted the descriptive approach and the statistical analysis approach using the SPSS program for data obtained from dust storms and health status data obtained from the Wasit Health Department and the Wasit Governorate Agriculture Directorate for the sake of Familiarity with scientific facts in order to be able to develop successful solutions to the study problem within the boundaries of the study area represented in Wasit Governorate, and the research has found the negative impact of dust storms on human psychological and physical health and the economic effects through the impact of agricultural production processes by dust storms that cause agricultural crop damage, decreased fertility and desertification , As well as its impact on animal health and animal production, and the indirect economic impacts. As well as its negative impact on the components of the non-living environment.
the research concluded with a set of recommendations: including concern for the green belt in addition to working seriously on afforestation of middle carrots and increasing green areas with interest in paving dirt streets and serious work in cleaning the streets from dust and sand accumulated in the street basin in order to protect the city’s environment from all pollutants. Reducing the negative effects of dust and adopting architectural designs that contribute to reducing the negative effects of it..
