Situational Regret and Its Relationship to Professional Decision-Making Among Secondary School Principals

Abstract

The aim of the study was to explore situational regret and its relationship to professional decision-making among secondary school principals. The researcher used the descriptive method, with a sample of 100 secondary school principals. A scale for situational regret was developed by the researcher, while the professional decision-making scale by Kerats was adopted. The validity (both face and construct validity) and reliability of both scales were verified using Cronbach's alpha for internal consistency. The study reached several conclusions: the situational regret among the principals was (60.458), which indicates a lower level compared to the hypothetical mean of (90), while their professional decision-making level was (35.2100), which is a high level indicating that the sample was highly influenced by professional decision-making, compared to the hypothetical mean of (23). Based on these findings, the researcher made several recommendations and provided a set of suggestions
