Mahdism in the philosophy of history Reading in the Islamic conception of the end of history

Abstract

The Mahdist theory of history or the doctrine of the absent and awaited Imam Mahdi, as all Islamic sects knew it since the dawn of Islam, is based on the belief that the state of truth and the state of Islam will be established at the end of time at the hands of a man from the family of the Prophet Muhammad who is the Mahdi who will appear at the end of time to fill the earth with justice and raise The banner of Islam, and like all other sects, they presented a complete conception of its state that would triumph over all nations, unite mankind under its banner, the banner of truth and justice, and fill the earth with justice after it had been filled with oppression and blasphemy, and after that the promised day will come on the Day of Resurrection, when the Hour will be established and time will end. Contemporary thinkers have tried to dress this belief in a philosophical dress by attributing it to intellectual arguments and taking it out of the field of creeds and theology to history and philosophy of history. Philosophical though it is a doctrinal theory, the starting point and the foundations, as our bias towards philosophy made the mind the sole and decisive ruler in what we have proposed.
