Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of the College of Education (JCE) undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Steps of the Review Process:

  1. Initial Editorial Screening:
Upon submission, manuscripts are reviewed by the editorial team to ensure they meet the journal's formatting and submission guidelines, and fall within its scope.
  2. Plagiarism Check:
Submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software to ensure originality.
  3. Assignment to Reviewers:
Manuscripts that pass initial checks are sent to at least two independent peer reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The identities of both the authors and reviewers are kept anonymous (double-blind).
  4. Reviewer Evaluation:
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on its academic merit, methodology, theoretical framework, contribution to the field, clarity of presentation, and adherence to ethical research standards.
  5. Editorial Decision:
Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editorial board makes one of the following decisions:
    • Accept
    • Minor revision
    • Major revision
    • Reject
  6. Revision and Resubmission:
If revisions are requested, the authors are invited to revise the manuscript and submit a detailed response to reviewers’ comments.
  7. Final Evaluation:
Revised manuscripts may be sent back to reviewers for re-evaluation or reviewed by the editorial board for a final decision.
  8. Publication:
Accepted manuscripts are copyedited, formatted, and scheduled for publication in one of the journal’s quarterly issues.

Review Timeline:

The review process typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.
