Abstract

Sustainable development, as it is collectively known, is preserving the right of future generations to all resources, including the elimination of problems such as poverty and unemployment. Hence the idea of rooting the study on protecting future generations from poverty in light of the consequences of the Corona pandemic in Iraq, and it is worth mentioning that sustainable development It has become one of the topics of political geography that I focused on, since the elements of development and geography are constantly changing, highly effective and dynamic in modernization and change day by day. In general and Iraq in particular, in light of the Corona pandemic, sustainable development began to suffer from obstacles and problems, so the study evaluated Iraq’s economic and development situation in the pre- and post-Corona world, relying on an economic scale such as oil as a source of financing for sustainable development in Iraq and price fluctuations and their impact on those Development, the study was also able to assess the geographical distribution of poverty in Iraq within its administrative units and indicate the poverty rates in each governorate and divided Iraq into three regions (North - Central - South) and explain the reason for this discrepancy in indicators and its reflection on what the outbreak of the epidemic imposed on taking a package of The precautionary measures and measures represented in "isolation and quarantine / social distancing / travel ban The complete closure of all state institutions: “schools, universities, companies, factories, entertainment venues, and tourism companies,” which negatively affected the Iraqi economy and changed many economic and geographic concepts and even severing geopolitical joints. As for the third topic of the study, it was devoted to studying developmental and geopolitical strategies to get rid of Poverty and finding effective solutions to implement sustainable development and activate its role in combating poverty and using UN resolutions as a starting base.
