The effect of using computer technology on performance in university libraries : the central library at the university of dohuk as a model

Abstract

The current study  indicates aims to identify  the most important activities and services in which computer technology is used in the central  library  and its  impact of the computer on the performance of workers and  the level of performance of libraries in addition to the obstacles to applying computer and software to these libraries .

The descriptive analytical approach was followed through the use of arithmetic averages and standard deviations in describing  the reality of the library , with analyzing its elements and delving into it , by identifying describing and analyzing the activities of the libraries as it represented the research community at the central library at the university of duhok , return (33) forms , the study reached a set of results , the most important of which are :

1- the results of the study show that there is a serious interest in the subject on computer technology through the main axes expressed and their impact on performance in the studied libraries .

2- The results of the analytical study confirmed the existence of significant correlation between the computer technology variable and performance in the university central libraries

3- it was clear from the results of the study analysis that there is a significant influence relationship for the axes of the computer technology variable combined on the performance indicators in the studied library .

The study also suggested some recommendations, including:

1- The necessity of the existence and availability of written plans and studies in some libraries, especially for development in the field of computing, in order to advance and develop its reality. The necessity of developing computers and software systems

2- The necessity of developing computers software and specialized systems in libraries such as koha , D-space and Genesis .

3- the necessity of increasing the number of specialists in computers and libraries.
