Abstract

The current research aim at measuring the level of ego depletion for Mosul University students and to identify the differences in the ego depletion levels in accordance with the variable of sex (males, females) and specialty variable (scientific, humanity). The population of the study consisted of (44028) male and female students from all the (24) colleges of Mosul University (morning studies). The main sample consisted of (810) male and female students, who were randomly selected. In order to accomplish the goals of the study, the researcher applied the ego depletion scale, which she prepared in her Ph. D. thesis entitled: (The effect of an educational program according to Baumeister's theory on modifying the ego depletion for Mosul University students) in 2021-2022. The scale consists of (67) items distributed in four dimensions (the physiological depletion, social depletion, psycho-emotional depletion and the cognitive depletion) with three choices (always, sometimes, never). Certain types of validity were extracted including (the face validity, logical validity, construction validity and factorial validity). The distinguishing power of the scale was determined and the invariability of the scale was calculated using various methods including (the internal and external uniformity, retesting and Alpha coefficient)
