Abstract

      The importance of the issue stems from the most important economic developments in the history of Iraq since the assumption of (Medhat Pasha) in 1869 until the entry of Britain in March 1917.

The study aims to shed light on the most important factors that helped the gradual economic development of  Iraq in terms of trade and the accumulation of surplus production of some commodities as well as the growth of some working classes and helped in the relative political stability during that period

.The structure of the study was distributed on the following axes:

- the economic conditions of Baghdad before Medhat Pasha took office in 1869.

- Economic conditions of Baghdad during the mandate of Medhat Pasha (1869-1872) . The economic situation of the Iraq (1872-1917)
