Abstract

Rashid Aali Al-Kilani represented the national liberation movement against the pro-British current. This movement has spread the spirit of Iraqi nationalism and the spirit of unity with the Arab countries, and established the concept of ending dependence on Britain. However, the intervention of Britain was one of the important reasons for the failure of this movement and the return of the pro-British movement for seventeen years, during which the internal situation was aggravated and the economic, political and social problems were exacerbated.

               The revolution of July 1958 in Iraq was a blessed revolution that resulted in radical changes in the lives of the Iraqi population. The founders were able to accomplish many benefits from the projects to all strata of the society, especially the lower-class society, however this revolution became a catastrophe for the future of Iraq, after the overthrow of the leader Abdul Karim Qasim and the beginning of a group of opportunists who ruled until the ruling was passed on to the Baathists who threw the country in corruption and destroyed the country and its people. This revolution was widely echoed in the Swedish press as it caused a change in the form of government from a monarchy government to a republican government in Iraq, and thus drove the country out of the camp where it was standing into another camp. Since the beginning the Swedish press was trying to clarify the position of the revolutionaries and what would happen to the situation in Iraq after the revolution, through the follow-up of events and the broadcast of the statements from the leader Abdul Karim Qasim. The Swedish press had mainly three questions which were: was the exports of oil from Iraq to Europe due to continue? What was the importance of the decline of the Baghdad alliance? And lastly, what are the chances of the relationship between the new Iraq and Abd-Al Naser?
