The Relationship Between Social Anxiety and Childhood Trauma Among Fifth-Year Preparatory Students

This study aims to investigate the relationship between social anxiety and childhood trauma among fifth-year preparatory students. The descriptive correlational approach was employed to analyze the association between these two variables. The research sample consisted of 150 male and female students from preparatory schools Anbar Fallujah education department Governorate. The researcher applied a Social Anxiety Scale (developed by the researcher), which comprises 30 items, along with the Childhood Trauma Scale (Bernisten et al., 2003), consisting of 28 items. The study findings indicate a significant correlation between social anxiety and childhood trauma among the sample, suggesting that early traumatic experiences contribute to heightened levels of social anxiety in students. Additionally, the results reveal statistically significant differences in responses to the Social Anxiety Scale based on gender, with females exhibiting higher levels of social anxiety compared to males. Furthermore, the study identified significant differences in responses to the Childhood Trauma Scale based on gender, showing that females have experienced higher levels of childhood trauma than their male counterparts
