تُخصص الدراسة الحالية لتحليل مزاعم بايدن ونتنياهو بشأن حربهما على غزة من وجهتي النظر التداولية والمعرفية. يعتقد أن بايدن ونتنياهو يستخدمان مزاعم مختلفة عندما يتحدثان عن الحرب على غزة في محاولتهما لتبرير الحرب وإقناع جمهورهما بالأسباب التي دفعتهما إلى بدء مثل هذه الحرب. تهدف الدراسة إلى الكشف عن الجوانب التداولية والمعرفية التي يستخدمها بايدن ونتنياهو في التعبير عن ادعاءاتهما بشأن الحرب على غزة. الدراسة نوعية بطبيعتها وتستند إلى نموذج انتقائي يتضمن نظرية كالبيبر (1996) في الفضاضة ونظرية غرايس (1975) في التضمين ونظرية لاكوف وجونسون (2003) في الاستعارة المفاهيمية. تم اختيار خطابين؛ أحدهما لبايدن والآخر لنتنياهو، كعينات للدراسة. بعد تحليل البيانات المختارة، تبيّن أن الخطابات تتضمن بعض أشكال استراتيجيات الفضاضة، مثل الفضاضة السلبية والإيجابية، والفضاضة الصريحة. علاوة على ذلك، تتضمن الخطابات أشكالاً حوارية وتقليدية من التضمين. وفيما يتعلق بالجوانب المعرفية، يُلاحظ أن الخطابات المختارة تتضمن أشكالاً بنيوية وتوجيهية من الاستعارة..
