البعثات التبشيرية المسيحية في الهند ( 1500_1900)

ظهرت العديد من القوى الأوربية في الهند منذ القرن الخامس عشر عندما تم اكتشاف طريقا بحريا إليها, فنشأة تلك القوى المتمثلة بالبرتغال وفرنسا وهولندا والدنمارك وبريطانيا بعد توسع إمبراطوريتها في الهند , وقد ادخل الفكر المسيحي للهند خلال القرن الأول الميلادي لكنه ترسخ جيدا بحلول القرن التاسع عشر.كذلك ادخل المبشرون المسيحيون عدة تغيرات في المجتمع الهندي بتأثيرات ايجابية في الجوانب الاجتماعية والدينية, لكن في الوقت نفسه لم تكن مفاهيم الرسالة المسيحية ونواياها واضحة , إذ لاحظ الهنود إن ألبعثه المسيحية والاستعمار يسيران جنبا إلى جنب مع بعضهما البعض كون الاستعمار يمهد الطريق لأنشطة ألبعثه المسيحية وفي الوقت نفسه يساعد البعثة المسيحية على ترسيخ السلطة الاستعمارية في البلاد.
