The use of metaphors in religious conversations has existed to connect human beings with the ideological beliefs being settled. From a mind’s angle, the metaphor is more than the words spoken with its phonetic realization. It is an insight into a person’s conceptual frame and how the different areas are related. In seriously cognitive linguistics, conceptual metaphors are understood as the manifestation of metaphorical thinking in the language.
This study, using a descriptive-analytical approach, is based on Lakoff and Johnson's cognitive metaphor theory to analyze the intangible ideas that Imam Ali has elucidated to the people via the use of "'Sha'ra'" metaphors in its different derivatives where the literal meaning is understood as inner-garment. The results of the article show that in the speaking of Imam Ali, the words ‘Sha`ra’ and ‘inner-garments’ have several conceptual metaphors as source domains These metaphors help concretize and simplify target domains such as obedience to God, piety, love, mercy, Quranic teachings, praiseworthy sorrow, greed, patience, fear, humility, and other noble qualities. By utilizing the various tangible and perceivable elements of the source domain, these metaphors are able to map onto different target domains and convey lofty cognitive and spiritual concepts to the audience, facilitating their understanding and application.cognitive and spiritual concepts to the audience, facilitating their understanding and application.
