The aim of this study is to identify the teaching competencies of the university professors in the Department of Arabic Language in the College of Basic Education / University of Diyala from their point of view in the light of the following variables: (scientific rank and years of experience and certificate).
The researchers followed the descriptive survey method (questionnaire) to identify the following:
- Examination of the teaching competencies of university professors, Department of Arabic language in the College of Basic Education / University of Diyala from their point of view.
- Detection of the impact of scientific rank on the teaching competencies of university professors, Department of Arabic language in the College of Basic Education / University of Diyala.
- Reveal the impact of years of experience on the teaching competencies of university professors, Department of Arabic at the College of Basic Education / University of Diyala.
- Detection of the impact of the certificate (Master - Ph.D.) on the teaching competencies, Department of Arabic at the College of Basic Education / University of Diyala.
The questionnaire consists of (42) paragraphs on teaching competencies distributed in three areas: (planning, implementation, evaluation). The researchers relied on the triple scale to answer the paragraphs: (always, sometimes, rarely), to determine the teaching competencies of university professors. The research sample consisted of all university professors in the Department of Arabic language in the College of Basic Education / University of Diyala, and the number (42) professors and the selection of the sample intentional for the academic year (2019/2020).
The researchers distributed the questionnaire to the research sample in the first semester of the academic year (2019/2020) .The researchers used the following statistical methods:
- T-test. for two independent samples.
- Mean.
- Standard Deviation.
- Alpha Kronbachs
After analyzing the results statistically showed that the teaching competencies of university professors in the Department of Arabic language from their point of view were (medium), and at the level of fields came the field of implementation in the first place, and the field of planning in the second, and the field of evaluation in the third place, all with a degree (medium), The results also showed that the teaching competencies of university professors in the light of scientific rank came in favor of the rank (professor), in the light of variable years of experience in favor of their experience more than (10) years, and in the light of variable certificate came in favor of the campaign (PhD). The study concluded with a set of conclusions, recommendations and proposals.
