Abstract

The role of social awareness in facing the electronic blackmail of women

The aim of the research to identify the electronic extortion and its effects, as well as social  in the face of the electronic extortion suffered by the woman of the current stage

The current study revolves around answering the questions listed below

What is electronic blackmail?

What are the methods of electronic extortion crime that girls are exposed to within Iraqi society?

The current research addressed many of the main axes of the definition of the concept of electronic blackmail, its types and effects and what are the mechanisms of response and social awareness to confront the blackmailer . The research was based on the theoretical framework represented by the theory of social role and the research reached many important conclusions, as well as 

That there are many important points, which have a prominent role in the process of promoting social awareness among women and of :

First - avoid making friends or accepting friendships by unknown people  

Second - the lack of response and response to any conversation received from an unknown source

Third - avoid sharing personal information even with friends in the Internet space " friends of correspondence”

Fourth - Rejection of requests to hold video chats with anyone, unless they have a close link knowledge

Fifth - Verifying the sender’s personality and not being attracted to beautiful and attractive pictures

Sixth - Providing the electronic device with special anti-virus programs as well as protection programs 

  VII - Consistency to periodically update the program

Eighth - Refrain from downloading requests for any program from an unknown source-

Ninth - Not entering prohibited sites

Tenth - Inform the official authorities in case of exposure to electronic blackmail, which is represented by the security authorities - the Ministry of Interior.

The most important general recommendations

1- Create an international electronic check under the umbrella of the Human Rights Organization, qualified with technical cadres with high-quality technical capabilities to confront the seriousness of these crimes and reduce them legally across the continent.

2- Increasing the mechanisms of international cooperation to confront electronic blackmail through the criminal legislation and its penalties, and the measures taken to track and arrest the perpetrators..

3- The necessity of issuing a special law related to the crimes of blackmail in general and electronic blackmail in particular that deals with all its aspects, images and types and raising the degree of social and social awareness on these issues

4- Activating the role of guiding units within Iraqi schools and universities and all educational institutions and coordinating and cooperating with the Ministry of the Interior in order to build bridges of trust and cooperation with official institutions and departments according to which they contribute significantly and effectively in establishing the concepts of correct social awareness on how to deal with the phenomenon of extortion in a proper way .

5- Confirmation by the official governmental and satellite channels on the issue of exposure to blackmail and what are the mechanisms of confrontation in a smooth scientific manner, and this contributes in a sure and effective way to weakening those who want blackmail and its fear, especially if blackmailers were shown on satellite channels and received punishment by official government agencies

6- The necessity of spreading social awareness of the dangers of electronic blackmail, especially for underage girls and vulnerable groups through the official institutions of the state as well as the official satellite channels ..

Family recommendations 

1- Opening horizons of dialogue and discussion with children, especially girls, and contributing periodically and effectively to support the process of successful and fruitful communication between parents and children to disclose any dilemma facing them to prevent blackmailers and saboteurs in the event of a breach or an unintended error by them for early intervention and prevent and uprooting extortion from its roots

2- Continuous and indirect follow-up of the children, especially in the critical and transitional stages of adolescence, in an appropriate and effective manner.

3- The proper use of social media by all members of the family and not to publish personal photos and matters related to happy occasions through Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram or other such channels, which have serious repercussions that do not thank her

4- Emphasis on family ties and religious preaching, preventing family disintegration in all its forms, and being drawn towards globalization in a chaotic manner, which definitely contributes to the demolition of the family and the loss of children, especially young girls. .
