Quantitative Characteristics of Tigris River Discharges in Amarah City (1990-2019)

Abstract
The quantitative characteristics of river discharge are important to know their future trends and wet and dry years, possibility of their return and indication of the risk of flooding. As the study shows, annual and seasonal discharge trends decrease besides fluctuation in relation to the general average and variation of the discharge to the inflow. River discharge decreased in the season and cold months and increased in the season and hot months. As for the indication of flood risk, it is low due to the low probability of return of high discharges, while rates of change are high between the highest and lowest discharge, besides the average rise of water is low due to the expansion of basin area in Amarah city compared to the annual inflow for water which is downward oriented
