Abstract

The current study aims to identify the level of academic communication competence among graduate students and to determine the significance of differences in academic communication scores according to the variables of specialization and type of study. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher developed a scale consisting of 24 items based on Erickson's (2019) definition of academic communication. The psychometric properties of the scale were extracted; validity indicators were verified through two methods: face validity and construct validity. Reliability coefficients were also calculated, with a test-retest reliability coefficient of 0.94 and a Cronbach's alpha of 0.84, both considered statistically acceptable. The results indicated that graduate students possess a moderate level of academic communication competence. Furthermore, there was a statistically significant difference according to the specialization variable, favoring the humanities, while no significant difference was found concerning the type of study. The study concluded with a set of recommendations and future suggestions.
