Analysis of the Spatial and Temporal Variation of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) in Al-Shihimiyah District

Abstract

The research aims to highlight and reveal the spatial and temporal variation of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) values ​​in the Al-Shihimiyah District for the period (2015-2025). Such studies are necessary to reveal the nature of the vegetation cover and to identify the area and percentages of vegetation types, as well as to demonstrate the effect of thermal and rainfall characteristics on the variation in the area of ​​vegetation types for both the cold and hot seasons of the year. The extent of change in the area of ​​vegetation types from one season to the next during the year was demonstrated. Changes in the area of ​​vegetation types play a significant role in revealing the variation in rates of environmental degradation in various parts of the study area.
