The cultural-spatial context of contemporary Iraqi art and its reflection in the productions of art education students "A comparative study"

Abstract

This research examines the concept of the spatial cultural context as a system of symbolic, historical, and social elements that contribute to shaping the visual discourse of contemporary Iraqi art. This context represents a frame of reference for the artist, in which the components of place, collective memory, and cultural identity intertwine. The reflection of this overlap in the artistic productions of art education students is studied, as they represent a living extension of the aesthetic and cognitive transformations that Iraqi art is undergoing, as the place is reproduced in their works as an expressive space that reflects cultural awareness and local belonging. The research aims to identify “the spatial cultural context in contemporary Iraqi art and its reflection on the productions of art education students.” The first chapter dealt with the methodological framework of the research, the research problem, its importance and its objective. It also included the limits of the research, in addition to defining the terms. The second chapter included two sections: the first: the concept of cultural context, while the second section included approaches to spatial culture in contemporary Iraqi art. The third chapter included research procedures. The fourth chapter included the results and conclusions.
