The research problem was determined by the decrease in university student achievement. So the aim of the research is to know the effect of the mini-education strategy on the achievement and retention of university students, and in order to achieve this goal, the experimental approach was adopted and the choice of an experimental design with partial control for two groups, one of which was experimental and other is control, as a sample consisting of (68) male and female students was chosen in the fourth stage in the Department of Geography, College of Education, Al-Mustansiriya University, divided into two experimental groups, the first (33) male and female students studied in mini-education, and the other included (35) male and female students studied in the traditional way. The experiment continued for the first semester of the academic year 2018-2019 if two classes of observational content were taught and applied. At the end of the experiment, a post test consisting of 30 paragraphs was prepared and validated and verified. After 21 days have passed, the application was re-applied to retention, then the results were analyzed. It demonstrated the superiority of the experimental group that studied with mini-education over the control group in the achievement and retention variables of students. In light of the results, recommendations and suggestions were developed.
