Formulation of problems in sociological research An analytical study

Abstract

      Sociologists agree that choosing and formulating the problem is one of the most important steps. When controlling and dealing with it within the limits of its basic elements such as: clarity, originality in selection and accuracy in expressions, the researcher is then at the correct starting point in the research, and therefore there are methodological standards in formulating the problem It can be explained: 1. Clear identification of variables and their measurability. 2. Explain the relationships between the variables. 3. The formulation of the problem does not contain value judgments, suggestions or recommendations. 4. Clarity of the concepts related to the formulation and not deviating from the text of the problem. 5. Shortening the concepts of problem formulation. 6. A criterion for the language of specialization can be added in the formulation of the problem, that is, the style of sociological writing. When analyzing the texts written in the approved scholarly dissertations at the universities of Baghdad, Mosul and Qadisiyah, it became apparent that there was an almost complete absence of ideal formulation of problems.
