Abstract

The research aims to investigate the effect of the discussion stick strategy on the achievement of first-year intermediate students. In social studies, the researcher used an experimental design for partial control using an achievement test. The experimental group taught Section A, using the discussion stick strategy, while Section B, the control group, was taught using the method. The total number of students in the research sample was 62 students, divided into two groups, each group containing 31 students. The two groups were matched according to the variable of chronological age and intelligence. The researcher prepared an achievement test as a research tool. The researcher verified the validity and reliability of the test. The data was analyzed using the T-test for independent samples. The results showed the superiority of the experimental group, which was taught using the discussion stick strategy, and thus the null hypothesis was rejected. In light of the research results, a set of conclusions, recommendations, and proposals were reached.
