The impact of electronic journalism in promoting the values of integrity in Iraqi society

Abstract

The research aims to study the role of Iraqi electronic newspapers in promoting the values ​​of integrity among members of society by conducting a survey on a sample of Iraqi electronic newspaper users in order to determine this role.

The research was divided into three sections. The first discussed the methodological framework, and the research problem was represented by the main question: (What is the role of electronic journalism in promoting the values ​​of integrity in Iraqi society), and several questions branched out from it, the most important of which was (What are the most important values ​​of integrity?), while the second section discussed The theoretical framework. The third section reviewed the research results, their interpretation, and the recommendations that came out of it.

The research belongs to descriptive research and the survey method was used in its conduct in order to reach the objectives that were set for conducting the research. The research community was represented by all users of Iraqi electronic newspapers, with their various educational, cultural and scientific levels, and with the various professions that they practice. The research sample amounted to 450 respondents who They meet the conditions stipulated in the research community.

The research has prior and subsequent importance, as it diagnoses the values ​​of integrity, the ability of electronic journalism to enhance them among the public, and the effects resulting from it, as a result of exposure to electronic newspapers, and benefiting from this role or directing it towards a general culture that serves the public interest.

The researcher reached a set of results, the most important of which were the following:

1. The most important values ​​of integrity that electronic newspapers paid attention to are (economic values), and this came as a result of the economic situation that the country is going through, as well as the government’s tendency towards changing monetary policy in Iraq and moving towards digital currency.
2. Iraqi electronic newspapers contributed to enhancing the values ​​of integrity in Iraqi society
3. The Iraqi public is influenced by the values ​​that suit their surrounding circumstances, as the category (economic, political and social issues) occupied the first ranks in the extent of the public’s interest, due to its connection to their situation.
