The Level of critical thinking skills among College of Education Students

The current study aims to assess the level of critical thinking among students of the College of Education at the University of Al-Qadisiyah, as well as to identify the significance of differences in critical thinking levels based on the variables of specialization (scientific – humanities) and gender (male – female). The research sample consisted of 400 male and female students from various scientific and humanities departments within the college. The California Critical Thinking Skills Test (2000), which includes 34 items, was applied as the research instrument.] The results indicated that the critical thinking level among the sample was within the acceptable range, which was educationally defined at 80%. Furthermore, the findings revealed statistically significant differences in critical thinking skills based on gender, with females outperforming males. Additionally, significant differences were observed based on specialization, favoring scientific disciplines. In light of these findings, the study presents a set of recommendations and suggestions to enhance critical thinking skills among students.
