Al-Qasari fi morphology by Ahmed bin Mahmoud Al-Khujandi (d. about 700 AH) investigation and study

Abstract

          Morphological studies in the science of investigation are among the rarest linguistic studies after phonology. This rarity comes from the difficulty of practicing morphology, as it is rarely studied, is feared by scholars, and avoided by students. Due to the dryness of its folds and the precision of its tools, which require a deep understanding and continuous awareness of all its details, no part is isolated from another. The science of morphology is taken as a whole, and all its tools are dealt with simultaneously, to the point that it has been described as a metaphysical science. The work of verification requires skills that must be available to those who undertake the verification, the most prominent of which is choosing the manuscript that deserves to be revived over others. For scientific and technical reasons, we have in our hands a manuscript on morphology by Al-Khujandi. He mastered its weaving, created its ingenuity, and concisely wrote its prose in the style of a wise morphologist. He awarded it the honor of naming it Al-Qusara, as he included in it a very condensed morphological material in which he summarized the most prominent and frequently used chapters of morphology.
