من خلال وجهة نظر نسوية، تحلل هذه الدراسة تخريب ادوار الجنس في رواية برام ستوكر دراكولا (1897) ورواية شارلوت برونتي جون اير (1847). من خلال التمعن في الشخصيات والتركيبة السردية والسياق الاجتماعي والثقافي في كلا نصوص الروايتين القوطيتين، هذه الدراسة توضح كيف هذه النصوص زعزعة المفاهيم ابوية النظام الابوي. انتقدت جين اير ظلم اختلاف الجنس خلال استقلالية جين والمواجهة الأيقونية لبرثا ميسن، بينما دراكولا زعزعة المفاهيم الفكتورية خلال عامل الثقافة لشخصية مينا هاركر ومصاصي الدماء النساء الذين جسدوا التسلط واذلال الانوثة بالعنف. هذه الورقة تستخدم التحليل النصي والنظرية الانثوية لتجادل بانه احدى الروايتين، جين اير، عززت دور الجنس المهيمن بينما الآخر، دراكولا، قوضته.
