The role of artificial intelligence in improving information retrieval system in information center

The present study aims to elucidate the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing retrieval systems within information centers. It does so by analyzing the impact of AI technologies on the accuracy and effectiveness of information retrieval systems, identifying key challenges, and evaluating the positive effects of implementing technologies such as machine learning and natural language processing. The study employs theoretical and descriptive approaches, examining the subject of artificial intelligence and the various aspects surrounding its use by drawing upon a range of print and electronic sources.,In addition to presenting various models, applications, and successful case studies from information centers regarding the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing retrieval systems, the study reached several conclusions. Among these is the finding that traditional search engines are limited to keyword matching, whereas natural language processing is not merely a component but the technology capable of endowing AI-powered information retrieval systems with human-like intelligence., Furthermore, data consistently indicates that artificial intelligence serves as a tool that "assists" users and researchers rather than replacing them entirely. The study also put forward a set of recommendations, including the need to address vulnerabilities and threats arising from the integration of AI into information center activities—such as data quality and bias, scalability, interpretability, and the trade-off between accuracy and speed—while also capitalizing on opportunities to leverage AI in information retrieval systems. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of utilizing AI applications in information retrieval by building open, decentralized digital data repositories, as well as focusing on AI applications and drawing upon the experiences of service-oriented information centers at both regional and global levels.
