مشكلة وراثة الْعَرْشْ الاسكتلندي والموقف الانكليزي منه 1286-1292

شكلت الحروب والنزاعات في معظم الاحيان جانبا رئيساً في العلاقات السياسية التي تظهر بين الدول بعضها البعض، و ظهر هذا ألامر جلياً خلال فترة العصور الوسطى المليئة بحشد ضخم من سجلات الصراعات والحروب بين الدول التي سعى بعضها سعي حثيثاً لفرض الهيمنة والسيادة على بعض الدول الاخرى ، لاسيما المجاورة لها، أو المشتركة معها في الحدود.لذا فأن اوضاع المملكة الاسكتلندية تبدأ بداية من موت الملك الاسكتلندي الكسندر الثالث عام 1286 ,ثم موت الوريثة الوحيدة للمملكة حفيدته مارغريت النرويجية في عام 1290 ,والنزاع الذي نتج عن هذا على العرش الاسكتلندي وإستغلال الملك إدوارد لهذا النزاع للتدخل في شوؤن اسكتلندا وفرض سيطرته الكاملة عليها , بعد وضع العراقيل لاختيار المرشح للتاج الاسكتلندي بحيث يكون اداة طيعة في يده ريثما يحين الوقت المناسب ليكون هو الحاكم المباشر لاسكتلندا وجعلها تابعة للتاج الانكليزي, فعلى العموم فأن تشكل الخلافة الملكية في اسكتلندا التي شغلت جانباً ها ًّما من أواخر العصور الوسطى ، كانت الهيمنة أزمة العرش على تاريخ خلافة تاج اسكتلندا في العصور الوسطى من 1286 إلى 1292 , وهذه الأحداث التي أدت بدورها إلى حروب المريرة التي اطلق عليها حروب الخلافة الاسكتلندية, فكان الملك إدوارد الاول له دور واضح في أزمة خلو العرش الاسكتلندي من وريث, الذي سعى بكل ما امكنه من جهد لضم اسكتلندا بشكل كامل الى انكلترا .
