The Venezuelan crisis of 1895 was one of the most important episodes in the history of Anglo-American relations in general, and in Anglo-American rivalry in Latin America in particular. This study examines the Anglo-Venezuelan conflict and its impact on reshaping American foreign policy from 1895 to 1899, considering it a pivotal moment in the development of international relations in the late nineteenth century and its influence on reshaping American foreign policy between 1895 and 1899. The central issue revolves around the position of US President Grover Cleveland in activating the Monroe Doctrine and transforming it from a defensive policy into an instrument of effective intervention in the regional system of the Western Hemisphere. The research begins with a historical background that clarifies the roots of the border dispute between Venezuela and Britain over the Essequibo region, which traces its origins to Spanish, Dutch, and then British colonial rivalry, and was later exacerbated by the discovery of gold in the region, further intensifying the conflict over border demarcation. This conflict led to escalating diplomatic tension, especially after Britain adhered to the Schomburg Line and Venezuela rejected it, prompting the latter to request US intervention based on the Monroe Doctrine, which constituted a turning point in US foreign policy, as it strengthened the role of the United States as a rising regional power and established a new phase of intervention in Latin American affairs
