Abstract

Given the development of societies and their pursuit of sustainability, this research aims to present a new vision towards achieving sustainability from a Quranic perspective. Because renewal is the basis of sustainability, its essence is the Holy Quran. This research was designed to link three axes: interpretive renewal, Tabatabai’s methodology, and the principles of sustainability from a Quranic perspective, with a focus on analyzing the social verses in Tafsir al-Mizan. The research follows the descriptive inductive approach, seeking to answer the research question of how social interpretive renewal can contribute to achieving societal sustainability from a Quranic perspective by applying it to the verses in Tafsir al-Mizan by Tabatabai?. It concludes that renewal in social interpretation contributes to understanding community sustainability principles from a Qur'anic perspective, as confirmed by the verses of the Holy Qur'an, which serve as evidence and proof of the sustainability of this sacred book. The study examined sustainability verses, where these principles were laid out as steps for humans to achieve earth's cultivation and a good life. The research aims to contribute to studies in Qur'anic sciences, sustainability, and renewal in social interpretation. It proposes opening up avenues for research in the field of sustainability while linking it to modern technology and other Qur'anic sciences. Researchers can examine these principles from the perspective of other interpreters, adopting different viewpoints that lead to further development in the academic, educational, and societal fields while linking them to sound Islamic principles.
