"The research aims at studying the role of Arabic literature in reinforcing and developing the citizenship values in the students of the department of Arabic , College of Education for Human Sciences , University of Kerbala .
The society of the study consists of the students of the department of Arabic , College of Education for Human Sciences , University of Kerbala which includes 627 male and female students. The researcher chooses the fourth year students , morning studies as a purposive sample, who are about to complete the study requirements of Arabic in all its branches .In addition, they have studied Arabic literature in its different periods and known the meaning of value in that literature. The researcher uses the questionnaire as a study tool. It consists of 58 items approved for validity and reliability and processed statistically by using SPSS program .The results show that the role of Arabic literature is not significant to a great degree in reinforcing and developing the citizenship values in the students' minds and souls. The researcher gives some recommendations, such as to specify a topic emphasizing directly the citizenship values in Arabic literature, and teachers have to emphasize continuously these values.
